Glass & Wick
When I was approached by Bianca, founder of Glass & Wick, in the summer of 2023 I was simultaneously starstruck and touched. To be presented with the opportunity to create a beautiful and unique advent calendar was something I had been longing to work on, all the more perfect with a brand that was local to myself and shared the same conscious beliefs.
Bianca’s starting point for the brief was the quote, “At Christmas, all roads lead home”by Marjorie Holmes, and so we worked collaboratively together to bring this vision to life. The concept was to have a flock of birds flying home together through a starry night sky on the front of the calendar, and then as you open the double doors it’s like you are opening the window shutters, to see through a window that frames a snowy and cosy winter scene, the birds just visible against the full moon on their pilgrimage.
It was important to include lots of small and sentimental touches to the design. Bianca’s own dog, Angel, was included and features curled up on the window seat as well as 24 individual scent illustrations that feature behind each door on the calendar; a visual representation of each sumptuous wax melt that is hidden behind.

Double door spread inside the advent calendar. The flaps on either side of the illustration were illustrated to look like window shutters, with the main illustrative design featuring a young girl looking out through a large arched window onto a quaint and snowy countryside scene.

A bellyband featuring part of the starry sky went round the front of the packaging to keep the doors in place.
