Lil & the Pickle Custom Garment Pattern
What began as a trip to India for a charitable organisation, soon became the beginnings of a beautiful and soulful clothing brand for the team behind Lil & The Pickle.
When I purchased my first Lil & Pickle jacket, I never imagined that I would get the opportunity to be able to design my own pattern for their beautiful embroidered garments. Each item is handmade and hand embroidered using traditional Indian techniques, by a small family business in Rajasthan, and so I knew I had to keep this in mind when designing the piece.
The theme for this limited edition line was ‘festival’, and I took inspiration from fireworks, the explosion of Holi powders, peacock feathers and many other known motifs attached to Indian culture and heritage. The results once translated by hand onto sumptuous fabrics and through metallic threads is breathtaking, and has felt like a wonderful collaborative project spanning many miles, countries and continents.
