I help small businesses with heart translate their creative visions into captivating visual identities
You’re so busy with the daily running of your business that when it comes to making decisions about the visuals of your brand it becomes overwhelming.
Sound familiar?
You need someone you can trust. You’ve worked hard to get your brand to where it is today but you need someone who can take it to the next level without compromising on your core values.
Your mind is bursting with ideas but you don’t have the skillset to bring them to life. Whether that’s for products or marketing, you’re an idea generator but need someone to craft them.
so Let me introduce myself
Hi! I’m Deborah Panesar, freelance illustrator and designer based in beautiful Nottinghamshire. I’ve been working as an illustrator and designer since graduating in 2010, creating bespoke designs for businesses big and small, in the UK and worldwide.
Having created my own small greeting card brand with the aid of the Prince’s Trust I know better than anyone else what goes into running your own small business, and how important it is to make it as unforgettable as possible.
My mission is to convey the story, ethos and values of your brand through carefully crafted illustrations that will capture your clients attention and heart.
Services I offer
-
Whether that’s for a logo, icons for your website or even marketing illustrations for every touchpoint of your customers journey, I can help create cohesion in your brand through visual storytelling.
-
Products I have worked on, but am not limited to, include advent calendars, confectionery, cosmetics and candles.
-
Whether it’s a book cover design, full page spreads or simple spot illustrations I’m able to work to any brief.
-
Previous projects have included window and wall illustrations for cafe’s and bars, plus large format illustrations for exhibition booths.
-
Make your wedding stationery as unique as your love story is with my bespoke wedding invitation service. I can create designs for as many, or as little, printed materials as you need but I have previously designed save the dates, invitations, RSVP’s, table numbers, orders of service and seating plans.

Shop consciously with my illustrated stationery and prints
As well as creating bespoke artwork for other brands, I created my own greeting card and stationery business back in 2014 with the aid of the King’s Trust (formerly Prince’s Trust).
What started out as a few simple birthday card designs grew into a huge collection and has now expanded into wrapping paper, art prints and stationery, all with a sustainable approach.
FAQs
Who do you work with?
I work with small (and big!) business owners in a variety of fields but mostly within the wellness and holistic sector. These includes boutique product based brands with eco conscious values, spas, holistic health practitioners, dieticians and therapists, to name a few!
What is your turnaround time like?
Timeframes are dependent from project to project. However I will always be upfront and honest with you about when you can expect artwork from me at every step of the design process. As a general rule of thumb I always aim to get rough concepts sent to you for review within 7 days of initial agreement of the project. Dependent on the number of revisions or amendments it can then take another 7-14 days to generate a more polished version.
How many changes can I make to the design?
During the design process I offer 3 changes (or amendments as I call them). If you need any further changes then these will be charged by my hourly rate.
What are your payment terms?
I currently offer two different options; 50% retainer fee upfront with the remainder 50% paid on completion of work (a great way to spread the payment) or payment due within 30 working days from the completion date. All work will be invoiced with payment terms and details included. If you need a different payment plan then I am happy to help in any way possible and we can discuss this in our initial consultation.
Can you explain what a ‘license’ is?
A license is the term used in the illustration industry for how long the illustration can be used for. The length of the license determines the price of the work, and this is why I always ask this from my clients. In general I offer a 1 year, 2 years or 3 year licenses, or for logos an ‘in perpetuity’ license which means for life.
What is your design process?
I follow through a 4 step design process; Brief, Moodboard, Design, Launch.
Brief - This is where we lay out the essentials of what you’re looking for, all the nitty gritty details of your project! This includes what the deliverables are, the license length, if there are any specific images, symbols or themes you want included in the design and if you already have branding constraints in place like a colour palette or typography package.
Moodboard - This is a fun part! I take all the snippets and notes from our briefing session and begin to deep dive into collating some inspiration pieces from similar brands in your niche market.
Design - Now this is where the magic happens. Taking all the inspiration, notes, musings and references I translate them into 3 visual concepts for you choose from. There may be one that you love, or you may like elements from all three, but using this feedback we then hone in on one direction to take forward.
Launch - Your brand new beautiful illustration is now ready to be released into the world. Once the design has been finished I will email over the design in whatever format is needed for the project, and am happy to help with any file issues in the days following to make it as easy as possible for you.
How do you create your illustrations?
I previously used to work solely in mechanical pencil, adding colour digitally, but I now create all my illustrations on my iPad using Procreate. I find this allows me to generate ideas and concepts much quicker than previously, and has opened up a whole host of paint textures and styles that add depth to my work.
What types of file do you supply?
The usual file types supplied are .JPEG, .PSD, .AI, .PDF or .PNG. However we will go over this when we have our first consultation and if all those letters look like an alien language then I’m very happy to debunk them for you!
Do you have an agent?
I don’t currently, but am very open to the idea! Agents, if you like the look of my work and can see it working for your clients I’d love to hear from you.
Does it matter that I’m not based in the UK?
Not at all! I’ve worked with a variety of clients all over the world, although my main client base is the UK and USA
